Meredith Meredith America AmericaAmerica Georgine Ferrera is an American actor who rose to the status of famous for her role in the popular television show, 'Ugly'. From the time she was in school she has always been interested in the world of acting. Her stage performances included in school productions and her film debut "Real Women have Curves," which made her famous. Though her role on the television show "Ugly Betty" garnered more attention in the media, her performance as the main character in the show gained her critical acclaim. This was reflected in being awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best actress, the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Primetime Emmy Award. Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis called her "a person to emulate" for the next generation of Hispanics working in the industry of entertainment due to her unique performance in "Ugly Betty". Ferrera, a member of the Time 100 list of influential individuals across the globe in 2007, was named one. Ferrera is a passionate supporter for the 'Save The Children Campaign' and a devoted ambassador. She travelled to India in the course of her mission to bring awareness of sex slaves and to meet children who are sexworkers.
